Wind power is the fastest-developing emerging energy worldwide and offshore wind power represents the future development direction of wind power. In China, especially eastern coastal regions circling Shanghai, is abundant in offshore wind resource. According to the renewable energy planning of the “13th Five-Year” Plan, offshore wind farms will be mainly distributed in coastal regions including Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong. However, unlike offshore wind farms, offshore wind farms operate in a worse working environment, subject to salt-spray corrosion, typhoons, wave load, debris on the sea, etc. Meanwhile, due to poor accessibility, complex working environment and long operation duration, the operation & maintenance costs of offshore wind farms are very high, which directly restricts the development of offshore wind power.
At the current “2017 Offshore Wind Forum”, authorities in the industry will focus on offshore wind power and have in-depth discussions on such themes as international certification and project management, to propel the safe and orderly development of the industry.
